SEN and Disability Information
At Heron Way Primary School we are proud of our inclusive ethos. We aim to support every child so that they can achieve their best. All pupils at Heron Wau receive quality teaching using a range of approaches to ensure that your child has a curriculum that matches their needs. In order to do this some children may need additional support during their time at school. Our school Special Needs and Disabilities Co coordinator (SENDO) is Mrs Head and our governor with responsibility for SEN is Mr Rowan Chaplin. Mrs Head and Mr Chaplin can be contacted via the school office using this link.
What are the arrangements for handling complaints from parents of children with SEN about the provision made at Heron Way?
At Heron Way Primary School we operate an ‘open door’ policy. Parents and carers are initially encouraged to speak with the class teacher about any concerns they may have. They will be able to discuss additional support children are receiving.
If you wish to discuss your child’s needs further please contact the Head Teacher or SENCO who will be able to talk about how Heron Way Primary can support children with SEND. The School’s complaints policy is on our school website. This includes complaints around SEND and Looked after children. The policy can also be obtained through request of a paper copy from the school office. Please follow this policy if you would like to make a formal complaint. In the first instance discussions would be encouraged by the class teacher, SENDCO and Headteacher to try and resolve any issues.
